Middle School Call-Back Information:

Please report to the NASH choir room from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, May 8

We may run as late as 8pm, but some students may be finished sooner. 

Thank you for auditioning for SchoolHouse Rock Live, Jr!  We would like to see some students at callbacks for specific roles. All students who are called back are already part of our show. Callbacks will help determine named characters and soloists. There are many roles that we will fill throughout the process.

A note on memorization vs. holding scripts/music: We find that memorized material often helps showcase character choices and confidence best. However, we realize this is a quick turnaround (much shorter than our rehearsal process will be!) and that everyone has a different style of learning lines. Therefore, you may present your material however you feel that you can show us your best work – whether that is memorized or holding pages. We will have a couple of copies of each song and side available.


All students will use the same materials for callbacks. We will determine the casting of all parts from these songs/scenes. 

We are asking each of you to read/act for Tom/Tommie.  Be prepared to also participate as “ALL” or “DINA” while auditioning.  There will be a second scene to cold read that you will receive at call-backs. A “cold read” refers to reading a text, script, or piece of material for the first time, without any prior preparation or practice.  

TOM (TOMMIE): Wait, wait, wait. First of all I want to thank you for all of your help this morning.  I am definitely ready to teach.  

ALL (Ad-lib): Excellent! We knew you’d get it. etc. 

TOM (TOMMIE): But, I have a little more time before I have to be at school.  Do you think we could do just one more song? That way I will know I’m ready. 

ALL (Ad-lib): Sure, Tom! Great! etc.

DINA: Which one do you want to do? 

TOM (TOMMIE): “HEY! My personal favorite! 

ALL: Interjections!!!
